Going Apple Picking

Can't eat: Store-bought Pie Crust

Can eat: gluten free version... So what's the best one? Should I do it from scratch? I always used to buy the pre-made stuff, since it takes so long to peel & cut the apples anyway! I found a recipe on celiac.com that seems pretty easy: Pie Crust Recipe

So, let me know if you have any suggestions! Also, I plan on picking A LOT of apples, so any other ideas of what to do with them would be great!!

I don't bother with crust, but you might try this:

You should be able to find almond flour at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. If you've got a food processor, you can grind up slivered almonds as fine as possible as an alternative (but you won't be able to get them as fine as store bought almond flour.

Check out the cobbler recipe linked on the same page. The peanut butter cake that the topping is based on is excellent & made with ingredients you probably already have in the house.

WOW, thanks for the link to that site! I saw about 10 things I want to make already! I think I will try that apple cobbler recipe with the peanut butter - YUM. I haven't tried almond flour yet, but I bet it makes for a great pie crust!

Thanks again... I'll have to post the results of some of those recipes!

It's too late for that apple pie, but Gluten Free Pantry makes a pie crust mix that is spot-on Plus it makes 4 crusts, or enough for two pies top and bottom. Give it a try!

Hey Gaile --

THANKS! I don't think it's too late for apple pie! 'Tis the season with Thanskgiving approaching. Anyway - thank you for the advice, I will be looking for that mix, since the one I made was a disaster! I'll let you know how it goes!
